Betel nut addiction in Myanmar

Betel nut is the Asian addiction.The dwellers of Mandalay is not exception.They take the betel nut’s leaf,paint it with a white paste,sprinkle on diced betel nut,and finally add some other dried spice.The white paste is lime,use as base it reacts with the good stuff in the betel nut and releases the red compound.The eventual affect is to dissolve the teeth.When the nuts is chewed it turns red and stains the teeth.Betel nut users are marked by the redness of their mouth.The streets too,are marked by the red stains.It is sweet but nusty and dirty.One chews the package of leaf,nut pieces and its assortments.
